Police run very successful SNAP evenings at Ferneham Hall well attended by local young people.

Sport and Recreation

Fully explore the possibility of exchanging the recreation space in Fareham Road, for a larger site in Mill Lane.

Consultation completed 2005.  Decision not to exchange recreation space.  Continue with existing shortfall in rec space and use funding to upgrade existing facilities

 

Maintain and upgrade children’s play areas.

Improvements to Community Centre completed, teenage equipment planned adjoining the skatepark.  New play area for The Circle and new / replacement equipment for the Recreation Ground play area planned.

Environmental Improvements

Research the options available for local recycling and composting facilities.

No suitable site for bottle bank in Wickham.  WCC compost bin offer highlighted in Parish Mag

New alternate week collection due for Autumn 2006. Green waste will be collected with recyclables every fortnight. Bigger recycling bins will be available if needed.

Community Information

Support Wickham Parish Magazine, look at possibilities of Magazine Team 2004/5 delivering to every household and expanding the scope of the magazine.

In 2005 two copies of the Parish Magazine were delivered to every household in the Parish, free of charge. It is expected that this will continue in further years.

 

Expand and develop the Wickham Website.

Website expanded to include up-to-date information, such as meeting agendas and minutes.

KVRA invited to attend Parish Council meetings. PC hold meetings at Knowle three times a year.

Young People

Set up a Youth Council to ensure the views of Wickham and Knowle young people are heard.

Further work needed, probably in partnership with WCC, district youth strategy planned.

 

Support the continued development of the new youth clubs.

On going, WPC made grant in 2004/5 and will again for 2005/6. A current proposal for a Southern Parishes Youth Officer based at Wickham will be fully supported.

 

Support the development of local leisure facilities for young people.

On going.  Teenage play equipment planned for 2006.  Plans for an extension to the Community Centre to provide more appropriate facilities for young people will be fully supported.

WACA offered WPC a mini-bus, but after initial research it was concluded that this was too complex and expensive to operate
