Wickham Water Meadows Millennium Green Trust 10th AGM Monday May 12th 2008 Annual Report This is my last report as Chairman and I am amazed to find that it is the 10th AGM. Clearly although this was a millennium project we started work well in advance. I was only one member of a fantastic team – Mike Gosney, Morgan O’Connell and Dick Warwick were the prime movers but I am very proud to have been involved in what is, I think, one of the great achievements of Wickham, Last year I reported that there had been serious damage to the picnic tables and that we would have to replace them. This has been done, at a cost of £2,589 and while they do not appear as substantial as the old ones I am delighted to report that they have been there nearly a year and have suffered less damage than their predecessors. It also became clear that the steps up the railway embankment needed substantial repair and I think Paul Collins and his helper have done a wonderful job, a complete rebuild, which has cost £4,000 but is a great improvement and had to be done for Health and Safety reasons. We have also undertaken a considerable amount of work on trees on the embankment., in particular behind St. Nicholas Row, and on the triangular piece of land. Finally the financial situation is very satisfactory , income from the Old Forge covers most of the expenditure and we have adequate reserves to maintain this wonderful asset for the Village, I hope in perpetuity. Again huge thanks are due to Paul, his helpers and the many others that I know regularly collect litter and generally care for this lovely place. Jenny Mallett Chairman
