Knowle Village

Knowle Village is a new development within the Parish of Wickham.  Previously the site of the Hampshire County Lunatic Asylum that opened in 1852, it was named Knowle Mental Hospital in 1923 and became Knowle Hospital in 1948.  The Hospital closed in 1996 and the site redevelopment started in 2000.  The existing buildings have been renovated and new houses and apartments built. The Village has a new access road from the A32 that runs between Fareham and Wickham.

Knowle is developing into a pleasant and friendly place to live, with an active Residents' Association.  The people that live in Knowle range from young families to retired couples to energetic professionals!  A Grade II listed chapel has been converted into a community building where a wide range of activities are held.  Those living in Knowle have easy access to the woods and fields around them, yet are close to the shops and restaurants in both Wickham and Fareham.
